I ran into these seeds at the local seed exchange.
I have not been able to discover what they are from any catalogs.
No one knows what they are that I ask.
The plants grow huge and get up to over 20ft tall.
They are a large flat green pod pole bean.
The flowers are purple.
The leaves are super huge as you can see in the pictures.
They grow in huge large plentiful amounts.
They taste amazing raw.
They cook amazing and taste amazing cooked and are super tender.
They have no strings.
They ferment amazingly perfectly and taste amazing fermented.
They come late in the year.
I don't get to start picking them until August/September.
As they go to seed, they get these purple stripes on the pods.
The bean inside the pod dries out to an almost black color, however if you look closely, you'll see that it's a super dark navy blue.
Can anyone please help out with the identification of these?

It's very difficult to identify beans, but I would make the guess 'Supermarconi' pole beans. The flower is even purple in the link. I would also say definitely Italian in origin, even the dried seeds. 'Rosa's' is similar as well, another Italian romano bean variety, and the seeds are a dark navy blue.

I would agree, phaseolus vulgaris, not another species of beans.
