Somewhere deeply embedded in this computer turns out what's called a url blocker has made it impossible for my computer to get here. Right now I am actually on another site called bypassschoolfilter so I can let you know that it looks like on Monday I'm purchasing a new laptop for the sole purpose of being here on my favorite page!

Hayle and I are again talking. Being locked out of theeasygarden has really hit me hard this past week!

I suddenly have more grey hairs.

I've spent so much time searching for solutions, and causes.

Possibilities of causes, even allowing paranoid theories.

I have not been able to be myself this past week. Haven't done anything in my garden, and in general, I've been a total wreck.

I just hope I can heal up soon. I don't even know if i can trust this proxy server thing. I think it's designed for kids at school to get on their fb or myspace pages on school computers, or for employees to do that on workspace computers that are blocked.

Thank you Thistle!

Another thing that makes me concerned is that, none of the experts told me about this proxy thing, nor suggested it. But here I am. The colors on the page as loaded here are off. More faded, and the contrast in the previous letter below is gone so the words are not visible.

Computers and I have not always gotten along. In the days of frequent computer crashes the computer ate my whole masters thesis moments before completion. Luckily I had saved it a thousand times and my husband found a good copy. Tears do not even describe the moment. Every time I went into the bank the system would crash as I got to the counter. I shut down all of the grocery store 3 times even though I warned them not to swipe my discount card. All I ever heard from the experts is that computers only do what you tell them to "You must have done something,' would make me lose my mine. The best computer instructor I ever had told me "each computer has it's own idiosyncrasies." Finally someone who understood! Good luck with your new system, and welcome back.

CatJac, both my parents were teachers. They got their degrees in the '40's. One of dad's Masters thesis was a book about how the Spanish language evolved in Mexico. The University in Mexico City had kept a copy of his thesis, and around 1970, they asked for dad to go down there for a couple of summers to give lectures and seminars. He was very humbled to see on a mural at the stadium there, there was among other noted professors who went to Mexico during world war 2 at the request of ambassadors and stuff, his likeness painted among some others. (Mexico declared neutrality, but preferred to ally informally with us, and American ambassadors wanted some professional Americans there. After his time there, dad went to Quantico Virginia to train as a Marine Corps officer. During his training the war ended and he was honorably released.) The University in Mexico City still uses dad's thesis as it's main reference point for the history of the Spanish language in Mexico, although since those days, a lot more has been learned about specific and local variations.

My mother was also a teacher. She was an Elementary grades teacher until shortly after I was born. Her expertise was teaching children to read who had a hard time learning to read. In her teaching days dyslexia was badly misunderstood. At best, it was thought there was only one form of it, maybe two. Between 1946 and 1954 she took careful notes about each student's progress. Around 1949 she began a postal communication with some professors in Minnesota. Sometime after that they began to view Dyslexia as not a single issue, but as a simplified common term for a lot of different reasons some have difficulty learning to read. That information then got passed along to universities and colleges to begin teaching young teachers to persist with teaching dyslexic children to learn to read, and not to allow condemnation of the sensitive individuals with it. Since those days, so much has been learned about reading issues, and the lucky kids of today. Things like this are ONLY because of teachers.

Teachers are one of the things that give hope for the future!

URL blockers are programs that must be installed and configured to block certain URL's. If you didn't install and configure a blocker yourself, odds are your anti-virus software or windows itself is causing the problem. What error message is it giving you when you try to visit this site, and is it the only site affected? Also, how old is your laptop and what OS are you using?

Monty, my computer problem is far worse than you can imagine. For example, the proxy server I was using a minute ago has already also been blocked. I am now on another one. Luckily there are actually about a million proxy servers out there.

My particular problem has stumped even Microsoft's senior technician.

The one silver lining here is that there can now be found some new definitions, whatever that means. (Wow, this proxy flashes quick invisible pages on my monitor).

New computer on monday, oh, maybe tuesday, and if it continues on that one I will also get a new satellite server.

The blocking is very well hidden Monty. I believe it is camouflaged or disguised. The certificating authorities have caught camo and disguised code before though, and fast, so this is probably an embedded code. Being as how it found the first proxy, and the info from that are also important clues that I am sending to microsoft. Microsoft does not seem very happy. Usually they define within a day. I think define is some tech term for figuring out the problem.

Me too NinnyMary, I've missed you and everyone here, yes, even seedcorn and bobm! Lol!

I have found that it looks like I'll go to extraordinary expense and bother just to be here! I'll be buying a new laptop that costs 199 dollars not ounting tax, a splitter doodad, and maybe an ethernet router thing whatever they look like these days. And, if those don't fix it, I'll also switch satellite service.

Let me know when you can do a day drive up here, and I'll be able to let you know how to get here.
