how do you graft roses?

I've heard that you can graft roses. I've never grafted anything and wasn't sure how to do this. I was thinking it would be neat to graft my friends rose to my plant and vise versa, kind of like a "friendship rose bush" idea.

I just took out a fabulous book at the library on rose care, one chapter is on grafting and growing from seed. Good book!
