Tree was planted 2 years ago, was taller then 6 feet when planted. Top 2 1/2 feet died during winter. Did leaf out purple so sure its above graft. What should I do? Tree is in middle of yard, so you can't miss it.

What can you do?

Cut out the dead growth and slowly retrain the plant into tree shape over the next few years. There have been times when I did leave one tall dead branch so that I wouldn't mow it down by accident but almost nothing in my yard is where it can't be missed from the road.

It may not come back as a weeping variety depending upon where the graft(s) were.
