How sturdy are homemade paper pots?

Well, here is a picture of 4 paper pots that have been sitting on a table at the garden since the middle of February. They have been subjected to high winds, driving and heavy rains, high temps, freezing temps.....and, yes, even snow.

Hahahahaha....I guess you're right.

I had set them out there......to just see how they would hold up. Gonna leave em there till they fall apart. I must have been a cat in another life.........curiosity.

Do they have soil in them? Can't really tell from the picture. If they are empty, maybe that is why they have lasted so long?
If they do have soil, I can't imagine why they've lasted so long. You're on to something good here!

Very neat! I'm thinking of using those next year. Did you "roll your own" or use the wooden pot makers that I've seen in the Lehman's catalog ( which I'd happily pay 15 bucks for, if it works, and if they hold out like yours do!)

I made some in March for some slow-growing perennials that I started from seed. After over two months of sitting in a sunny window and being watered frequently, mine are still in good shape. The peat pots on the other hand, are sagging and falling apart when I pick them up. Very pleased with my paper pots!

Yep, they've had soil in them...from the "git go".

Yea....I used the PotMaker. Got it off ebay for less than buying retail. The amount I saved amounted to the shipping cost of the retail one.
But if you use the size paper they give with the instructions...the pots will be a little flimsy and won't hold up very well.
