I am new and I have a question about one of my perennials!

So I am new here. I come from Backyardchickens.com I have this plant, it's called a Delphinium x Cultrorum perennial. It keeps flopping over, like the leaves and stems won't stand up they flop over. Should I stake it up or something? The stems are so thin and delicate I am afraid to! It is still in it's pot though, would that make a difference? Do you think it will stand up when it's in the ground?

I do believe Delphinium can get so big and heavy they need to be stakes, just like some Sunflowers require.

Don't worry about the wrong section. We all chase the tomatos so the right person will see it.

That is how the delphiniums I used to have were. I also had a lot of problems with them breaking because they got so heavy or the wind would blow them down. I had a row of them growing alongside a wall of a barn, so I used posts and string to make a fence to hold them back against the wall. You could also tie yours to a stake since it is potted. I don't think planting it in the ground will make it stand up better.

I hope this helps as they will surely need all the help you can give them. I love to grow them & I prefer the old branches method as then you can't see the supporys once the plant has grown up through them. I don't like seeing a whole lot of canes poking up, all rigid & uniform......but that is just me!!!
