I think thistle has it!

Autumn Olive usually grows in the higher, drier parts around my area. It's berry clusters remind me of how a cherry would be, and the berries kind of have this silver speckling on them.

Lucky, good idea! Watch it for a whole growing season and you should get more clues to what it is!

It sounds like it would be a good planting for my trouble spot around front...shady and damp. Nyboy, is it easy to maintain or does it try to take over? It would be nice to have some color out there in the winter. The pics I've seen of it are lovely. I bet the birds would enjoy it too.

most of the plants are in water I can send you some berries or cutting if you want. I have never had any trouble with it.

That would be awesome. Thanks! I'll send you a PM. From what I read here, it can be grown from seed but needs cold stratification. It has a male and female plant, like other hollies, so seeds would be a good way to get both. I have bad luck with cuttings... Might have something to do with forgetting to water them. LOL
