ID Native or Invasive

I think thistle has it!

Autumn Olive usually grows in the higher, drier parts around my area. It's berry clusters remind me of how a cherry would be, and the berries kind of have this silver speckling on them.

Lucky, good idea! Watch it for a whole growing season and you should get more clues to what it is!

Hats off to Thistle I am sure it is Winter berry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great ID and no photo god are you good thanks. Now to do some reading up on them. So lucky I know what your talking about many times I want to mark something in the fall.

It sounds like it would be a good planting for my trouble spot around front...shady and damp. Nyboy, is it easy to maintain or does it try to take over? It would be nice to have some color out there in the winter. The pics I've seen of it are lovely. I bet the birds would enjoy it too.

That would be awesome. Thanks! I'll send you a PM. :) From what I read here, it can be grown from seed but needs cold stratification. It has a male and female plant, like other hollies, so seeds would be a good way to get both. I have bad luck with cuttings... Might have something to do with forgetting to water them. LOL
