Inundated With Plants

I've had no difficulty killing off every peace lily I've ever been given. Me and houseplants...we just don't get along! :idunno

Peace lilies are one of those plants that are sold not intending for anyone to keep them alive. Like Christmas poinsettias. I'm sure some can keep them going-they do not like a lot of light.

LOL, I've got a scraggly poinsettia I've been nursing along too.

Poinsettia need 100% darkness for a bout 1 month. Then they need absolutely no light at night until they set flowers. I have spoken to 2 growers. They could not believe that I got them to rebloom. I did it just for the challenge. The growers use hormones and all sorts of specialized treatments. My blooms were puny in comparison but for that I achieved it. Now I grow and throw like every body else. Home depot put both growers out of business. Could not come close to competing with their prices.

I've always wondered about that... Don't they grow wild down in South America or something??? How do the wild ones bloom?

My father had a poinsettis that for 3 years bloomed every winter. I just assumed growers develop one that didn't need the dark to bloom. I think it died when heat went out last winter.
