I just realized that my garlic, babington leeks, and some neighboring onions are looking yellow. My mind immediately went to one place. Please look at these pics and let me know, do I have aster yellows in my garden?

I didn't even know that aster yellows affected plants in the onion family! Well, it does:

Ontario Ministry of Agriculture (LINK) has pictures of onions and garlic.

Usually, I think of it showing up in flowers and deforming the top of the plants.

Missouri Botanical Gardens (LINK)

That's how I think of it, anyway -- in the flowers. When plants are deformed by fasciation, I have jumped at the idea they have aster yellows. Right now, I'm losing aster plants . I actually do not think it is AY - for one reason, the plants are so young. Some other fungal disease ... but maybe it's fun aciar I'm NO diagnostician.

The garlic, shallot and potato onion flower heads are beautiful. I might get a lot of seed if things work out. I've even got 4 leeks from last year who want to join in. Hoping I don't have to scrap all of it.
