Hi yall, I've tired growing some (can't remember the kind) & ended up killing it.
Do any of yall know what would grow good here in north Louisiana?

Thanks, Miriam

I am attempting lavender myself... I was told by a lavender farm to try the spanish lavender... it looks like the french or Mumsted(which I'm trying now and will probably fail). The spanish can hold up a but better to our humidity in the south.

Also, they need GREAT drainage and really sandy soil with organic stuff in it. I bought a top soil mixed with compost... so its rocky and sandy.

Thanks,

I'll have to pick a spot & add some sand with our soil here.
I really hope I can grow some, I love the smell of lavender.

Where are you getting yours from?

I so far am trying it from seed. My back up plan is to actually go to a lavender farm here in NC to purchase 3" potted seedlings if that doesn't work out.

I'm growing munsted lavender now, but will get the Spanish if that doesn't work.

There is another post I wrote here on lavender and someone gave me this link in that thread....

...scroll down the flower forum some, and you'll see another post for lavender help just a couple weeks ago.
