Do you plant leeks in the spring or fall? Last year was the first time I ever planted them. I probably got them in the ground in June and not very many. I did eat a couple of small ones. Then, this spring I noticed a couple of leeks growing. Not sure if they came up later or just were there all winter, but I had one for lunch and it was good, but I was reading something and somebody said leeks like a long growing season and best to plant in the fall like garlic, so now I am wondering if this might be better. I have a few planted now and some that need to get planted in next day or so. I could start some later and have ready to plant in the fall when I plant garlic.

I sow leek seed in late winter in the greenhouse.

They were a little later this year but only because the seed order was late.

Then, the leeks take a full growing season. I have never left any through the winter nor, really, followed anything different than this simple schedule.
