I did a search and did not see this so I thought I would share

it is just soooo easy to grow I always wonder why no one knows this? do you guys grow it?

you can actually buy a bunch or stalk or whatever you want to call it at the grocery store ..or an Asian mkt then stick the whole thing bottom side down in a glass of water to root
what you buy should look exactly just like one of these http://www.foodsubs.com/Photos/lemongrass5.jpg

when the roots form you stick it in dirt it grows literally as a very tall thick grass sending shoots out the side so I put it in a wide bowl type planter or even in the garden (here you have to dig it up if you want to save it over winter)

anyway if you have not tried it go and get some and give it a try it is fun to grow ...rewarding in any SE Asian food and very pretty

:)

it kind of tastes like lemon Pledge when it is used to heavily I think

I love it in soup or in marinades

a tiny bit in tea is ok but too much and it is bad

Interesting, I find that Lemon Balm tastes and smells like Pledge or Murphy's Oil Soap and have never equated Lemongrass with that sensation.
I use it for tea and love it.
