Newcomer here:

Several years ago I let my seed stock of Tahitian squash die out.

The squash is about 2 - 3' long and 4 - 5" round (slightly crescent shaped like a cucumber). They look like very long and large butternut squash and taste almost the same. One hill covered my 30' x 30' front yard.

I originally got the seeds from a friend here on the Big Isle of Hawaii.

Tips suggestions?

one source is Seeds of Change in New Mexico, which uses the name Tahitian winter squash. Call toll-free 1-888-762-7333 or go to www.seedsofchange.com.

Plant Tahitian squash from late March through early June. Later planting is discouraged because of the time required from planting to harvest.

To plant, sow three or four seeds 1 inch deep in fertile, well-prepared soil. Keep the bed moist until the seedlings have emerged. When the plants have two or more true leaves, remove the weakest plants, leaving only one or two of the strongest.

Hi Athena,

Thanks for the source.

Are your instructions for here in Hawaii or anywhere?
