We refreshed our stock this past fall, so we didn't get many eggs over the winter. Yesterday out of 8 hens I got 6 eggs. The silkies I don't count as much because they hardly ever lay eggs... LOL

I just finished my Sunday breakfast and yup - disappointment again, like every other Sunday. Store bought eggs = no flavor.

Someday I'll have chickens again!

The hubby went into town today and bought 32 meat birds!!!!! My chickens gave me 4 eggs today. Out of 12 I guess that's better than nothing.

I got caught up with some good friends (chicken enablers) placing a mail order for chicks... the next thing I knew... I had 20 on the way!!!

It started so that I could get a specific breed - and the hatchery only sells in batches of 24 - so I got a couple of friends to go in with me ..... I don't know what happened.... For only 4 more, I could have just ordered one batch myself.

Now - sometime in April - there will be 72 chicks at the Roanoake post office
(my luck... they'll ALL BE MALE)

By the way CM91 - those little puff balls are ADORABLE! Are they your first chickens?
