Lost a Hen

Sometimes thing happen, that there is just no explaining... You certainly did not cause her death. Good for you, for picking her up. Never a pleasant task- but if we are to have animals- something we must all learn to deal with. Good for you. Sorry for your loss.

:hugsSorry your hen died. There is no explanation sometimes. Be proud of yourself for picking her up to dispose of her body. That is accomplishment, sad accomplishment, but momentous accomplishment none the less. Don't ever feel embarrassed here, you are with friends.

So sorry, Mary, but you did good by taking responsibility for her yourself. Just think what a perfect life you gave her, however short it was.

I don't think you did anything wrong. More than likely it was a heart problem. Chickens can be very mysterious sometimes when it comes to illness. It's really too bad she went so young and I am very sorry for your loss. I know you treat your chickens well and with the utmost respect. :hugs

Awww...sorry for your loss! Poor henny. At least she died a happy hen...right? She had a good home, a nice flock, and good living conditions.

I lost my big old Blue cochin rooster last night. He was too weak to hop into the coup so I put him inside knowing he would be dead in the morning. I did not want the old man to suffer in the cold or worse yet get eaten while still breathing. He had been failing for at least a week.
