Macadamia Nut Tree

My daughter brought me a macadamia nut tree back from Hawaii. I have it in a pot with my soil, but still in the medium it was packed in. I had it in full sun but the leaves started to burn so I have it in mostly partial shade....neighbor has an adult tree, so my question is...when does it get full sun?

I have one. But I have to admit we just planted in the field next to my chicken coop. I think the squirrels benefit most from it.
