Yes, they are pretty bad here in Ma.I had an easy drive to work, on a small uncrowded highway. There were times I had to go to conferences and face the real traffic. The morning desperation in trying to get to work on time. Really bad. In driving to Connecticut for Thanksgiving I saw quite a few texting at 65 miles an hour. Of course it is illegal. In the old days I used to see people reading the newspaper while driving. The #1 cause of teen deaths in autos is texting.

Houston, Texas ain't no slouch when it comes to crazy drivers. And then right here in our little town, Highway 190 comes through town. Couple this busy 4 lane highway with old people leaving the Brookshire Brothers grocery store (no traffic light) and I think we have at least one fender bender a day, if not two. :barnie

my dad said the MA drivers were part of the reason he moved to NH in the early 70's. my sister moved back down to MA around 2000 but she had such a bad driving record in NH that she had to go through some sort of traffic school to bring down her insurance points. then she turns to my mom and me one day and says we needed to learn to drive aggressively. :ep

if you think about FL, that is where eventually all the nation's worst drivers move to. especially for the winter!

My little sis lived in St Louis most of her adult life, then moved to Nashville. She is a hyper, aggressive driver. Lots of gas then break, gas then break, horn honking and dodging in and out of traffic. She said you have to do that or be trampled. I don't think so. My bro and bro-in- law down there drive assertively, but not with such emotion!
I'm glad we live in the sticks, here.

I remember driving into NYC and then heading towards Massachusetts. It was snowing. This was when we first began to have 4-way flashers on cars. Everyone had them on! I thought this completely defeats their purpose ...

I was supposed to make a stop in Connecticut and continue. The snow was deep after another day ... I never made it further into New England :(.

@baymule , I would have set Texas drivers down closer to the bottom but, no! Several TX cities are near the top for best drivers. There are differing driving conditions. California drivers have these enormous commutes thru exurbs, suburbs ... everything was built for car transport.

The narrow streets and fewer drivers of Europe, I wonder how their accident rates compare. It might be a myth but the story was that early Mercedes execs anticipated that only 8,000 Germans would have the necessary skills to be behind the wheel.

since i had time to kill behind the windshield early this morning decided to do a little research. would have to say every 4 out of 10 cars that passed me or i passed had their phone stuck to their ear or were texting. so much for them using a turn signal in a lane change. even had a car with a flat screen tv going in the back seat they were doing 75+ so could catch what was showing...maybe "up" ....
also had a car pass me with green headlights wonder how illegal that is? of course cars with their gps units on.
had a couple t/t and box trucks pass me with a phone in their ear..hope johnny law does not see them thats a BIG fine.
oh the stories a t/t driver can tell you of what they have seen...
