I sprouted some popping corn as an experiment on the fridge. 4 of 5 sprouted, but three are moldy. Can I salvage them, or should I just toss the moldy ones? I didn't want to put them into soil without knowing.

I would guess the moldy ones are goners- but it really wouldn't hurt to put them in the ground. The worst thing that could happen, would be they rot...Let us know your progress...

If they're actually *moldy*, the whole little seedling covered, they are probably a goner.

However, make sure that you are not looking at root-hairs, wee fuzzy white stuff coming sideways off the root. They are normal :)

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

Unfortunately, they're definately moldy. The seedling itself is moldy, as well as the kernels. It's green mold. :/

Thank you. I didn't want to plant them and waste the soil (lol, I'm a cheapy and had to BUY soil) if they were junk. Good thing they were just the popcorn sprouts. Hopefully the rest don't get moldy. :/
