Attractive To Bees
I use wood shavings straight from my chicken coop/goat pen, which also has a lot of hay mixed in that the silly goats waste, so by using it for mulch I don't consider it that wasteful.
It works well put in on thick the few weeds that have come through are really easy to pull. The chickens love to scratch arouond in it for any bugs, so that helps keep it turned.
