my 1950s dining table Christmas present...

well, here's my Christmas present I picked out for myself! A 1950s formica and chrome dinette table, with a unique feature I've never seen before - the leaf gets tucked under the other top pieces! I love it! It fits in our little 1950s house much better than our other, giant 1970s wood table.

You have a charming home, Heather.

I have, here at the south window, a little drop-leaf table my mother gave me in the '70's. I gave it back after a couple of years.

Surprisingly, first one kid and then the other wanted it from their grandparents. Now, it has come back home. I haven't had it with me in over 30 years. It's seems okay . . . my kids didn't wreck it! What's the matter with them?!

That looks a lot like the table our family had when I was a little kid.

It is pure 50's for sure. I well remember the metal legs and formica top of our kitchen set as a child. Had those metal chairs with a vinyl pad for seat and back. You have a valuable piece of memorabilia that some decorators would fight for. Enjoy!
