I'm SO EXCITED! As you might know, I have a VERY small allotment for living on just over an acre.. there is only about 400sf plantable what with the geese, chickens, dogs and seasonal meatbirds or turkeys. Anyway.. my LOVELY LOVELY neighbor has tilled up part of her old garden space and donated it to me!!! She's too ill this year and probably in the future to tend it herself.

Here is my new space right here on the corner to the left. This is at least 2 years old here and mostly it's grown up with weeds but they plowed me a big space. That is her rental house there that you see... I live about 7 acres back behind that and up the road past the S curve..

I couldn't be more excited... the space already plowed for me is about 30X200 I'm guessing... OMG..I've NEVER planted that much stuff!!!

I'm putting in a 3 sisters garden - pumpkin pie pumpkins, sweet corn & pole beans
and a bush bean field of both stringless green and black beans (turtle)
a huge space will be dedicated to the plants currently in pots that I can't fit in my own garden
and then back toward the tree line I'm going to start the cooler weather garden in about a month.

I just had to share with you all...

and if you pan to the right, next to the horse barn, you'll see a horse trailer and a willow tree. We're building a farm stand right there under the willow. I'll get some updated pics, but I just HAD to show you all, this all came about in the last 24 hours!!!

Wow, that is huge! Congratulations!! What a nice neighbor you have. I'm sure the arrangement will benefit you both. :)

My dear neighbor lets us borrow her tiller. My husband did the maintenance on it for her and promised to plow her a new plot this fall for next year's garden. It's a good arrangement. They are sweet people and would do anything for anybody who needed it, night or day. Thank God for good neighbors!

Thank you all so much!! Journey you are right, good neighbors are really GREAT to have! Funny thing is, this is the neighbor that is feared by all the OTHER neighbors ;) but really her bark is worse than her bite and so long as you don't do anything TO her or her horses/property, she's a LOVELY woman! I feel like she's the mom I SHOULD'VE had!

Vfem.. not at all!! Google earth and maps are awesome and I totally support the program. I was thinking just now that I should update that with NEW photos! They are at least 2 years old there.

:)

I'm very happy for you. I'm sure you deserve it and are being rewarded for your kindness to your neighbor. Keep sharing your produce with her. I'm sure you already do.

WOW......just used it to look at the house where we lived in Birmingham, AL., back in 68-70. Purty darn neat.....and spooky. Also looked at my father-in-laws home (he passed in 2004) in Hixson, TN. While, it is wierd to be able to do that......ya know what......it's kinda nice, too.
