new member in south san diego

Welcome littletom. I was born and raised in San Diego (Spring Valley for the most part but I did live in IB when I was in kindergarten) and I sure do miss the climate. You can pretty much grow anything anytime you want there. I had a tomato that produced for 18 months before I chopped it down. The marine layer shouldn't be a problem at all, the plants don't seem to mind the filtered light. I've been in Texas for 5 years now, so I don't know where the best places to buy things are anymore. There used to be a great herb nursery in Fallbrook called The Herban Garden where you could get every herb known to man but I'm not sure if it's still open. Of course, in California a 3 hour drive doesn't qualify as close like it does here in Texas, so you probably wouldn't want to go that far anyway. Good luck getting your garden started!
