I have some rather large "clumps" of pampas grass that I need to split. I dug up the largest of these today and now I'm wondering the best way to divide it into about 4 smaller parts.

I dug the huge rootball up Sunday. Seeing as it was very warm and windy today I decided to do something as this thing was drying out fast.
My 1st attempt was with a sawzall armed with a 9" long wood blade. This was no where near long enough to cut all the way through, but it gave me a good start. I then took my JD tractor front loader bucket, with the cutting edge pointed straight down, and aligned it with the saw cut. This bucket has power down so I was using the edge as a guilotine.
Sliced that baby in as many pieces as I wanted.
I did find some vids on you tube where they use a carpenters saw to cut one up.
I don't see why a chain saw wouldn't work. Would sure make a mess of the saw.
