Our peas have been producing well for about the past week or so, we have been getting about 2 gallons or so a day of unshucked peas.
This AM when I was out on weed patrol I spotted A couple of sweet baby girl tomatoes that are just about ripe. I marched the whole family out to see them and sent a pic to everyone in my phone contacts list. Now I am not an overly proud person, BUT these seem to be the best looking tomatoes I have ever saw LOL!!!

We started all of our tomato plants on march 10th, these will be the first ripe tomatoes we will pick!

Peas this late, Collector? You are likely to have real good pea growing real estate down there.

Snow, Snap, Shell! Sow seed every 2 weeks! Trellis from here to the horizon!

Can't have too much of a good thing.

Steve ;)

Sweet Baby Girls are just about the best!

Wow Collector! I started my tomatoes on Feb. 26 and all I have is several green marbles, yours are beauties!
Two gallons of peas is awesome. I still have peas but was super busy and neglected to pick them so now they're kind of woody, and they're pretty much done.
Your pea plants are so green, looks good. :)

Those peas sure look tasty, Collector. People are always surprised how much better freshly shelled peas are compared with frozen peas. It's like the difference between fresh sweet corn and canned corn. Much sweeter and crisper texture. The only way that i can get peas down here is to plant them in September and hope they survive the winter. Then i'll get a good crop during our short spring, before it gets too hot for them. I found that "Little Marvel" is one that will usually survive the winter here.
English peas and asparagus go very well together, if you like asparagus. I like them cooked together just until tender, and served with a buttery cheese sauce. Delish!

I'm still getting peas too, some snap variety. I've been very surprised at how many peas my few vines have been able to produce, and they still look terrific, going strong! I definitely didn't have peas this late last year.

I think the peas growing well is just pure luck. We were late planting them and the weather has been cooler than average so the peas have been producing well. I think they may produce for another week then I was thinking of replanting some more in the same spot and see what happens. Hey, I have the seed why not try if nothing happens then I can just till them under. As for the tomatoes it is the first time we have started from seed so we are over excited about it. The sweet baby girl tomato plants are loaded with fruit, our other tomatoes have alot of fruits but the sweet B Gs take the cake! Thanks for the responses this is a great community!
