Picked Our First Ever Watermelon Today - And It Was a Doozy!

..and delicious too. The variety is Charleston (85 days) , and it was very trouble free.

Even though the trend is towards smaller size fruits these days, this one reminds me of the monster size watermelons of my childhood. :cool:

We had this growing on our front steps. There are two more, along with about 5 Moon & Stars. We're going to a family reunion next weekend, so hopefully we'll be able to take a few with us.

I did the smaller ones last year and also decided I wanted big ones this year like my mom used to plant. I got georgia rattlesnake. Unfortunately I was a little late planting and we just havent had enough heat this summer. Im jealous :hit
