You are going to need some light once they sprout. My basement is very dark, but the temp should be just right. How deep did you plant them and do they have room to spread out. Are you planning on a transplant. I don't think potatoes do well in transplant. I'd put them in the ground.
I have had potatoes come up from previous years. Actually I got my potatoes in REALLY late last year and they didn't come up at all.
All of those potatoes are still in my garden and my hills are still nice. I've got my fingers crossed they come up this spring.
It's been so mild here this year I really think they will. It was a lot of work making 4 50ft long hills so I hope it will pay off even if it's a year late.
