How?

Mom has some trees that are starting to show beautiful color and she was wondering how to preserve them for centerpieces without them getting brown and crunchy. I have no clue, but I know somebody on here will have the answer!

Hi,

I know what your talking about, but I have never used it; but it is a product that turns the leaf supple and makes it retain the color.

My only suggestion, aside from searching the internet, is to check with your local Craft stores...such as Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

well I take two pieces of wax paper and then a put the leaves inside them ...then take two pieces of parchment and with a pretty warm iron just iron the parchment so the wax paper melts into the leaves..the trick is to pull the wax paper apart before it sticks or you have will have leaf filled placemats :)

I am actually going to do this with my grandson tomorrow :) have fun!

the leaves last a long time but not forever they are wax coated leaves but not heavily coated just "preserved" a bit

Google "preserving leaves glycerine" and you will find a bunch of sets of instructions :)

I have not tried it myself, but mom used to use glycerine to do leaves for putting in dried flower arrangements.

Thank you guys!

The info has been relayed to Mom. I think she's going to try waxing some. Wish she'd change projects with me today...I'm digging up bermuda grass :barnie and hoping it turns into a flower bed.

These sound like some great ideas. I will have to try!

I have saved red maple leaves by pressing in a book until dry, then framing on acid-free paper under glass. This has worked well for me, but I guess it depends on how you plan to use them.

:weee:weee Another interest bit of infor from this site!
I passed the links on to our daughter to use with the kiddies. May try it myself:ya
