Pressing Apples???

Anyone have any ideas on how to make a homemade apple press? I can't find any mills in the area and I can't afford a new one. I'd really like to make some Apple Cider. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I got a book at the library about homesteading. I think there is info in there about making one. I will check when I get home and post the name tomorrow. I bet you could find it at your local library or they could order it from another one in your county.

I saw one in one of my books that used a car jack...will have to scan that pic and send it here.

A car jack! Well that's a good idea! I'll look into that one...I thought about some of the big river rocks I have but my husband said he'd get me if I tried to lift them.... I've gotta get these apples pressed and soon. Thank ya'll for the ideas

I have seen one that was made out of an old cork screw lard press that work fairly well. Time to go antiqueing?
