The color looks a bit off, but I think it is the lighting! Typically this color should be very striking!

Ok so how do you guys know so much about plants and what their name were. When I was young my granny use to collect them. But she would smack me if I got near them. So I didn't like them so much... How can I get to be like you guys...

I'm going to the nursery tomorrow to buy a hibiscus....

i just sort of know them, its a talent i was born with. usually if i see it and hear or see the name once i remember. same goes with wildlife. all my friends think i'm weird like that.

my grandmother taught me a lot of plants when i was little too.

It is Lobelia cardinalis, a beautiful native wildflower around here that's been driven out by the invasive purple loosestrife. Thankfully it seems the little beetle they released to help control the loosestrife is starting to have an effect.
