Slugs are a pain in the caboose especially the minute new growth appears in spring they form armies and attack all new plant growth. At dusk a salt shaker works well and oh how they bubble up like the wicked ones they are, as I giggle with glee to see the lil gobblers disappear before my very eyes. A bucket of soapy water works well if plucking slimy slugs is your thing. Copper tape around pots and little garden snakes and other garden crawlers help eliminate them. In other areas where no pets have access , the commercial products works well and then of course there are the insects that are ordered from catalogues that hunt and eat slug eggs . It’s all classic warfare tactics combining different ammunition to discourage the slugs who actually leave slimy trails to hunt them down. A nice layer of spiky bark is a great way to discourage some . No matter how stocked the arsenal storage, a good solid collection of slug / snail bait from A-Z , there’s always room for more.
