Geeze! It's been raining for days and days it seems. I never thought I say that after the drought we had over the summer. I was just hoping Mother Nature would deliver it over a period of time, not all at once. :/ 4" of rain in my gauge!

I did mange to truge out to the garden and pick more turnips and broccoli - I sank to my ankles - didn't think I'd get my boot out of that muck. My brussel sprouts are not ready to pick yet - seems like they slow or maybe I'm just impatient. Guess I'll have to settle for the store bought frozen ones for now.

Not enough- too much! Ugh! Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress! Hope you dry out soon. One cool thing about Brussels sprouts is that you don't have to harvest the whole stem at once. Sometimes you can start from the bottom, a good month before the sprouts are ready on the top of the stem... I can't get over how delicious they are! I had good luck blanching them and freezing them this year. Really enjoying them now that winter is here. Happy Gardening!

I hate to say that I've never had garden fresh brussels. I did plant a few in the spring one year, but now I know that cool weather plants should be planted in the fall in the south and not the spring. I believe we planted these in October, so hopefully I'll get some in the next couple of weeks. Funny, I hated brussels as a kid and my dad used to make us eat them - now I love them. :)

Oh, you will be so happy with your own! No need to let them get giant sized either. They are delish when they are about the size of a medium sized marble.

Brussels sprouts don't ship well. They lose taste in a hurry once they're picked. I love them after a light frost. It really improves the flavor. I've dug them out of a snow bank and they were delicious.
