Hello....

I am a new member hoping to get some info on raised beds. I have looked through the archives and found a lot of great tidbits so far! :)

I am wondering if anyone has ever used the corner brackets made by Frame-It-All for their raised beds? I have done container beds before. This year I am going to do some larger raised beds. My plan is to use redwood and make them about 12"-18" deep and about four by eight feet. If anyone has used those brackets, I would love to know how they hold up. Are they worth it or should I just use 4x4's for support in the corners?

Thanks for your help!

I didn't want to pay for anything to do ours.... so I just used left over 4x4's to brace the corners. Some raised beds I did 2x4s as corner braces as well. Whatever was cheap!

I'm sure whatever it is you are looking at will work fine. I would go with them if they are going to make the beds look prettier! Having a nice looking bed is worth paying for.

Some people on here have GORGEOUS raised beds.... and I'm sure they probably used something like that as a bracket!

Thanks guys! I may order a set to see what they look like. What are your opinions on using redwood? I have heard some people say they prefer other woods, but others like it.

Hi everyone :)
I'm new here too, and so i hope you dont mind me jumping in,
I have raised beds here and LOVE them, my husband made them 3 years ago, and the biggest one is 40 feet long by 3 1/2 high by 4 feet wide, and the second one is half the size.

we used 2x2's in the corners and then along the 8ft side to prevent warping...used galvanize screws and washers as fasteners...

1x10 planks doubled to make them 20 in tall so I can sit in a chair and weed...

Whoa, Penny! Forty feet! I am envious! I have to tell my hubby that so my 8 foot beds won't seem like a big deal. LOL

Momofdrew, What kind of wood did you use? You too, Penny? I am going to try to go to the lumber yard this afternoon to see what they have. If I use the preformed corners, they have to be 2 x 6. Otherwise, I might try to find 2 x 10's or 2 x 8's.

Thank you, Penny! Those are great. I would love to do some that big. I think mine are going to be more of a basic box since I am not particularly handy with building things. I like the deeper boxes so I may rethink the depth of mine.
