43% is a pretty big deal. I thought you were saying less than half of a percent. Perhaps their overweight parents are trying to keep these children from making the same mistakes they did. If a parent can't control what their child eats when they are 2-5, they are going to have serious problems with the child as he/she grows.
Now to see if this trend continues as the 2-5 year olds turn 6-10. Eating better is a smaller factor (IMHO) than getting outside and moving. That is where I see our growing problem.
It is a huge swing, Red! Down to signal digit numbers: "About 8 percent of 2- to 5-year-olds were obese in 2012, down from 14 percent in 2004." The trend had so strongly been going the wrong way.
I wonder how much the declining market for soft drinks is reflected in those numbers. Those companies will do what they can to reverse that - don't you know?!
