Remember When TV Was Free

free tv for me. i have an outside antenna and get 22 channels also. the major networks, the oldies channel and 6 pbs channels. that is more than i need or want. my kids hooked me up with Netflix last Christmas but i have yet to watch a movie on it. just not much of a watcher. internet is satellite and i share that cost with my sister so that is doable.
 
Okay, @marshallsmyth. I know you could never get nasty. Of course I don't watch Reality Shows either, but just might to see you and Big Foots frolicing around in the woods.

I really have heard of Duck Dynasty through other than TV means. No way I'd pay to watch bearded bros. bagging buffleheads for broadcast.
 
TV, internet, land line phone all on one bill. $117 per month. DH has to have his TV, I have to have the internet and the phone is .......... heck if I know, we use the cell phones. DH watches every singing show, talent show and I ignore it and come to TEG!
 
I have free tv through digital antenna. Just the basic stations, 10 or so. DH and I have one series we watch on ABC together and the kids watch PBS cartoons. We don't watch much tv anymore. So stinkin' busy!

Same here. We could get cable but I refuse to pay for what is mostly on it. Sure we would enjoy the nature channels and such. But already waste too much time in front of the TV.
 
Mostly free here. We haven't had actual cable for nearly a full decade but do have both netflix and amazon prime along with a roku. The roku has a couple of hundred channels most of which you get free. Those channels are mostly made up of older tv shows, movies, and earlier episodes of newer tv shows. Plenty of older vintage stuff too (part of why I thought I'd mention it). Oh and Baymule, one of the channels that you can get on there is Texflix! (description says "entertainment specifically for Texans!") ;) Haven't taken a look at it yet but would be interesting to see what's on there.

I do occasionally get a chance to watch cable at my grandparents house and would have to agree with Marshall - it's mostly all propaganda and trash that's destined to slowly kill off your brain cells. I do occasionally run across something good though, just not often at all.
 
My husband works for comcast and we don't have TV. We don't even watch 'free' TV. We go on the net or watch netflix if we really want to see a movie. I don't read or watch news either. I figure if its really all that important, someone will tell me.

Of course. They're Yellow feathered Peking Ducks who live in the Forbidden City and only eat Forbidden Rice, washed down with tea made from the combs of their white rooster foes.* Or they did till they were defeated by a force of Red Hens lead by that famous cat leader, Chairman Meow**

*There is actually a very expensive kind of oolong tea whose name translates as "Comb of the White Rooster"

**Actually since I think "Mao" is actually Chinese for "cat" I probably could have left it as is.
