With the ever increasing price of water here in the desert, I decided to take out the lawn area under the clotheslines. I know Spartacus will not be happy about that! He loves to roll in the grass there. But... it is just too expensive to keep it watered and green all year.

Here is a photo of the area after I dug out all the dead grass.

Here it is after I layed down the flagstones.
(On top of 400lbs of sand!!)

Now I am in the process of cutting pieces of artificial grass to go between the stones. That is not an easy job!! When I get it done I will show you how it looks. I have less than 25% of it done at the moment.

My clothes line is over a pea gravel path in the herb garden. I have the line up high so anyone can easily walk under the lines. If the artificial grass gives out on you, pea gravel would look good between those flag stones too.

That is great looking! Can't wait to see finished project. I think that fake grass is really cool. Not something we need here in upstate NY- land of rain, rain, rain!! Looking forward to seeing more photos!
