DD's lost theirs and I lost one of mine last winter, when the temperatures dipped to -20 for several days. If I get around to it I will try to plant some of the seeds from the Numerous pods on the 8 volunteers growing near my garage.
I still do the standard way to transfer plants
Here's how:
  1. Check compatibility.
  2. Prepare the soil.
  3. Dig the hole.
  4. Carefully remove the plant from the pot.
  5. Loosen the edge of the root ball.
  6. Place the roots in the ground.
  7. Water and care for your plant.
  8. Recycling your pot.
Happy planting!!!

I would take them now and pot them. Are you zone 7b? Probably plant them if so. We have no frost line here in 8b. You might mound them in compost if yours is shallow. Some roots will be naturally grafted but cut them of course. Around here it is hard to keep them from growing. I would prune low myself and work it into a bush but that is because of the tree shapes we already have are simply less full of flowers than they could be. One of ours gets morning sun and 2 get afternoon sun and are something like 8-10-12 feet high. One broke over in a hard wind so I staked it back up and pruned it 1\3 to help balance the broken root food supply. It looks good but we will see this spring.

The seeds germinate so much here they can become a nuisance. I think there need the winter cold .

I guess so too... I think the best way for them is to transfer them in a more wider area. and just put a small fence around it.
