Snooping over a Back Fence

I spent a little time in a garden this morning. It was a brief visit because a dust storm was coming!

My phone actually alerted me from the weather service when I was heading over. The storm was messy ... I'd even say nasty, altho fairly brief.

On a residential street, I was watching some birds as I was driving by when I just caught sight of a squirrel racing across the asphalt right towards my moving pickup ..!

I checked the mirrors but didn't see any sign of a dead squirrel ... It was an uncomfortable feeling so on the way back home, I circled back on that street to see if I had killed the squirrel, an hour before. Couldn't see hide or hair of him .

Heading back in the direction I'd intended to travel, I happened on a gardener, tying up massive tomato plants in his backyard. Here, a dust storm was descending on us and he is out there supporting his tomatoes!

I enjoyed seeing his garden. You know, there aren't a whole lot of good gardeners, good gardens ... not that you can see from public streets, anyway.

Do you have some you enjoy driving by? Two blocks outta my way, I'm planning on regular visits, driving by in the pickup . Hope that squirrel has learned to stay the heck outta the way!

There was an adorable patio with an English garden, enclosed with a picket fence that I just loved looking at. Sadly, I think the owner moved on since the garden is now gone.

My drive into town brings me past several nice gardens. It seems like the really good looking ones get their paths tilled regularly. Nice straight rows, brown dirt, green plants. They look productive.
My rows are covered in straw and pine needles. I have sort of wobbly looking supports for my beans, and most rows are not continuous with the same kind of plants. My tomato cages don't all match. There are some tomatoes sprawling all around. I have to dodge and stoop to get from one side to the other.
But my little gardener-wanna-be grand daughter came yesterday and picked some veggies to take home (she loves the Marconi peppers) and said the garden was "beautiful". So that made me happy.

There is a master gardener a couple of miles away from me. I plan my route to work so that I pass his front yard, which is entirely garden.

I have stopped my car in front of stranger's houses to look at their gardens. I was so happy once, a house with great garden I always passed ,was having a yard sale. I got to see garden up close and talk to owners.
