I finally went and did it. I ordered a 2" soil blocker today. I have been wanting one and it was recommended in the "Mini Farming, Self-Sufficiency on 1/4 Acre" book I am using this year. The book offers two different mixtures for the blocks;
1) 30% fine peat moss
30% good finished compost
30% sterilized garden soil
10% fine sand
then organic fertiler and lime if necessary
or
2) 50% peat moss
40% worm castings
10% vermiculite
I don't have a worm bed to get castings, does anyone else use a soil blocker and what mix do you use?
