My nephew was trying to get the engine number off my truck. He used degreaser and toothbrush to remove years of grime. There where 2 numbers he wasn't sure about. I said let me show you a old trick, put a piece of paper over the numbers and rubbed over them with pencil. Numbers came out very clear, I had read about people doing this for old grave stones . Sometimes the simplest way is best.
