New archaeological finds suggest they were paid for their labor.
Yeh, they found a check stub and an overtime slip, together with a note for an excused absents taken the day before```[/QUOTE
They found records etched on clay tablets that showed payments when deciphered.
Big book or small book new discoveries are made all of the time. That theory is just that. But, it is hard to equate those wonders of the world to monuments erected during the Jim Crow era built to intimidate Black Americans. Slavery was such a blight on our history and the monuments commemorated the heroes who wanted to maintain ownership, forced labor, abuse, rape and selling of families. I first did lament the sculptural loss to our history. However they were built poorly and cheaply long after the civil war. To have this monuments in places of importance is a reminder of pain and loss of a people for over 200 years.Paid in the straw they used to make bricks?
New theory goes against info in a pretty big book.
