Yellow flag iris can grow so fast take up the whole pond in no time.
My little pond has fish muddies really just goldfish. I have lost so many fish over the years to raccoons and a heron that lives by the creek. I don’t stock spendy fish any more, but here’s a pic of the water yellow flag iris pseudacorus grows in very wet conditions, and is common in wetlands, where it tolerates submersion, low pH, and anoxia soils. The plant spreads quickly, by both rhizome and water-dispersed seed. Every other year I pull it out and trim it to size.

Would be nice if it did. But outside of a stable area like a bog, it struggles. Especially if the koi knock it loose and it goes floating around...🤦🏽‍♀️

Serious pond damage over the weekend. 2/3 water gone, 1/3 under the liner.

"Refilled" visually, as there's no way that much water can be added that fast. Waiting for the water under the liner to absorb through the clay.

Already planning how to rebuild up at the new house.
