Sorry you're having this problem. We'll need very clear info about your iPad, browser/version, steps to duplicate the issue, etc.

Also, more specific details about what happens when you try to use emoji's? Do they work on another device?

Also, could you take a screenshot of your reply window so we can see what it looks like? Are you able to use the tools like Bold, Underline, etc?

Are any other members having this same issue?

Push the gear icon to toggle the editor mode back to default rich editor.
