At least here in sunny San Diego. We're already getting a few days in the 80s and that's way too hot for this time of year. I have a feeling we're going to have a hotter than normal Summer this year.

I don't know. Last year, the winter was frigid and the summer was extremely hot. We set a few records for cold and a few for hot. And the spring was unusually wet while the summer was usually dry. You're familiar with this area. When I say unusually dry, you probably have a pretty good idea of what I mean.
This winter has been unusually warmer and drier than normal. What thay means for the summer, I don't know. I'm hoping for one of those moderate ones, where it gets plenty warm but not extremely so, and where we get a few of those thunderstorms passing through here instead of the county to the north getting what few there are.

I am north of you in IA, what you described sounds EXACTLY like the last year we had. Now this winter has been strangely mild with very little snow. In fact we did not get measurable snow untl January! And only 4-6 inches. I really hope this summer is not as harsh as last summer.Ridgerunner said:

Frustrating isn't it? When I lived in Oklahoma the Winding Stair mountain blocked us off from the Talihina Valley. They's squeeze all the rain out and then send us the wind to knock over the corn.Ridgerunner said:

i'm afraid for us in the Northeast that we'll have another rainy spring and early summer. or we will be the ones starting to have a drought!

I am in agreement with Hoodat. I think we are having a roaster here this year. HOT, HUMID, WET, SOAK in the POOL before breakfast summer. It should be a good year for tomatoes and peppers.

I do hope we don't have a summer like last year either! We've had no winter here to speak of, but we are getting rain - not a drought buster, but close so I am thankful for that.

Yeah Ohio missed the drought so many had last year. Missed it by having the wettest year every since they are been tracking weather. And it is still raining. Our weather this winter has been a lot more like what I would think Seattle would be, except Seattle is having snow. Weird!
On that note anyone know what this weather does to garlic? I planted mine last fall and the ground has been frozed about 7-10 days total all winter.

Hush, now, Hoodat! We do not need a scorcher of a summer here in CA. This winter has been a joke. Here it is the end of Jan and we have had very little rain and very warm temps during the day (freezing at night). Not a good thing to precede a nasty summer!
