My compost is ready to use and I would like to empty the bin so that I can start a new batch. I plan on topping my container plants and use in my beds. Can I use it now without it breaking down before I plant my beds? I probably won't be planting my beds for a couple of months.

Thanks
Mary

i'd say to throw it in there now! if it does break down earlier than expected it is just more 'digestible' by the plants when you put them in!

It will keep breaking down if its in the bin or on the ground/bed. Id move it and get started on a new batch if you need the space.

Yep, what they said...

...but I'd only add that if you still feel it might be taking up nitrogen some, ya might want to add a bit of Bone meal or Blood meal to help it finish where ya use it. Or one of those Whitney boxes of organic fertilizer mixes. The one for Bulbs is a good general mix. Spendy by the pound, so only use a bit.
