Spring is finally here, time to do my window boxes. I am tired of both vinca and sweet potato vine as trailers, I would like something that hangs and flowers. Most boxes are in full sun, a couple get afternoon shade. Any suggestions ?

Bacopa is a great trailer, and allyssum will also grow out and hang down nicely. Creeping Jenny is another really good one, but use the green one, the golden one has a tendency to burn in bright sun. It appreciates more than average water to keep looking good in full sun.

I love the Crystal Palace lobelia with it's dark blue blooms, but it would need a bit more water too in full sun.
How about calibrachoa? It's sold as "Million Bells", never needs deadheading and blooms it's little brains out all summer.

:gig:yuckyuck:gig I am so with you there, bay. I love my planted flowers, but potted ones seldom get the care they need or deserve from me. Silk flowers always look their best.

I was going to suggest the lobelia and bucopa but they don't trail out as long as the petunias so didn't think he would consider them flowy enough...but I LOVE that blue lobelia. I plant it every year in some container or other because it's so easy care and beautiful.

The million bells are also a great suggestion...they don't get as leggy and need pinching back like the petunias.

@ducks4you, Which of the Wave petunias are the smelly ones? I always plant some Blue Sails petunias because they smell so good, but they are one of the old fashioned ones, and don't hold up as well as the Wave.
