tulips are blooming!

Thistlebloom...no, no wistful tone. I do wish it was warmer here. I have to wear a sweater year round, especially in the mornings and evenings in the summer!

I get to see snow at Christmas time when we go up to our cabin. Of course, there we just "play in the snow".

Not to get off topic, but did your area sustain much damage from the tsunami Mary? My folks are in Crescent City and I guess it destroyed their harbor.

No, there were warnings down by Santa Cruz where people surf. It is about 2 hrs. from us. Apparently the waves did knock a couple of boats around and scared people.

I did a little cleanup in the front bed today where the snow has receded and I saw a little teeny tulip leaf starting to emerge! Yaay!

I'm going to guess yellow for the unopened one, so you'll have to post a picture of it when it opens...

Half right... yellow _and_ red!

This is one of the parrot tulips. It rather looks like a regular tulip exploded all over the place... there are _four_ blossoms on that one plant. I think I'm going to relocate those to a separate bed, they take away from the simple elegance of the regular ones.

And here are all of them (on the edge of a bed of bearded iris that were here when we bought the place)

I found the order confirmation email -- they were from Park Seed:

Gorgeous! I have those same pink ones you have... but would love those yellow & red parrots tulips as well. I just can't build beds fast enough!!!

That parrot tulip is gorgeous, looks like a flame. I think you're right to give them their own bed, they do grab the limelight!
