@baymule in a baggy with half an inch of water in it, fasted beforehand so there's nothing in his tums to dirty the water. Bettas can live like that for as long as a month with no food and water and still survive. A few days will be a snap! He's probably the only fish I'll be taking.

is he a halfmoon or delta?
i have in my collection 2 halfmoon boys both in the Mustard Gas color. 1 delta in a slightly mottled but mostly white, and a delta with red fins & shimmery pink body. then there is my veil tail boy that is a striking violet blue/red/white who has been courting my blue/red lady this past week. i keep catching him making bubble nests and she's been getting fatter with eggs. i just added a new girlfriend but she's still on the tiny side so i have to keep an eye on her to make sure the older girl doesn't become aggressive on her.
my boys seem to get along well with my guppies and a few other tank mates like my glass & cherry shrimp. 4 of my boys have their own space in my 20 gallon tank. the veil tail and his lady friends have a 10 gallon at the moment.
i'm always amazed when you see those poor bettas in the store and they have no heated cup of water or plants to lounge on. as soon as you bring them home and give them many more gallons of water, a clean space and some warmth and they brighten up! the look soooo much better!

he is a delta. He was labeled as halfmoon in the store, but he isn't. He is really nice for a pet store betta though. He appears to be pretty young and nice proportion to the fins. He does have some red wash which many breeders find undesirable, but I think its fun.
I do think his best feature is his personality though. I love his broody little face when he is trying to figure out a new trick, and how excited he is when he visits a tank in another room. Right now he's in a 30 gallon exploring the new world I set up, but he is just as happy to be in the training bowl working or just hanging out while I'm in the office.
how do you get your males to get along? Were they fry together?

actually, they have dividers between each one and i put a couple guppies in each divided area. though one of the dividers got knocked down the other day and the 2 boys seemed ok for a little time. but there are a lot of plants to hide behind.

Its good they didn't hurt each other. I've never had any luck with dividers. I can't get them to stay up!

Just thought I'd update to say...Twitch has learned enough tricks to tie the record and is now working on his tie-breaker trick, pushing a practice golf ball (they float) across the surface of the water. He'll already bump it, just need him to bump it two or three times so it will go all the way across.
