Hello, I am new to the forum as of today, look forward to it. I have a picture of a flowering plant from a garden in Maine. It was not intentionally planted but a self sown baby. I have no idea what it is, it looks like it is an annual. I really like it and would grow it if I can find out who it is. Anyone have any ideas?

Don't know what it is but resembles marestail. Marestail is a noxious weed. Millions of seeds that you can't kill. But again, it's not marestail-or at least not the same flowers.

Welcome to forum. A suggestion, might consider putting what area of country you garden in so those of that area can be of better help. Like NW IN or SE OK...

I don't know the answers to those questions, the picture was sent to me by a friend who was visiting in Maine.

:frow@CoveLady :welcome from Eastern Iowa where the Mississippi River runs east to west!
The flower resemble Nicotina but I have never had one get anywhere near that tall!

Thanks Larisa, I 've been on the web and I think it is Ipomopis rubra. I's a west us dry land plant, has a number of species. What it is doing in Maine I can only guess, there is a lot of sand many places there, it seems from what I read to need very good drainage. My mystery plant is ID's. I like the look of it, wonder if it would grow in my conditions. I'm going to get a little seed and see.

I don't seem to be able to find a place to enter info into a profile. Can anyone tell me where to find it?
