This morning within the space of two minutes, we saw a female Baltimore Oriole, then a male Rose Breasted Grosbeak on our back deck. Never have had a grosbeak this close to the house before. They are scaring the hummingbirds.
"It's interesting how some birds are "usually" in very specific locations.
At one home, I had Red Crossbills and Evening Grosbeaks as regular visitors - relatives of your birds. Maybe the Grosbeaks show up some years but the Crossbills, I have never seen them at any other home! If it's pine seeds they want, there are pines most everywhere here.
I don't think that Bullock's Orioles are especially uncommon here. However, I cannot remember ever seeing them away from a river.
We get Evening Grosbeaks nearly every year. Sometimes huge flocks of them that devour the sunflower seed in one visit.
I've read that they are one of the "irruptive" species.
Maybe your new birds will hang around and attract more.
Now and then we get a few Goldfinches, but they don't become regulars. For a year or two we had two gray jays that came with a scrub jay, always the threesome, but they haven't been seen for a couple of years.
The only birds in our neighborhood that stick around are starlings, robins, and blue jays. There are hummingbirds as well as other types that nest within 10-20 miles away. Most of the other birds just stay for a day or two then migrate out in Spring and Fall.
