I just bought a pair of cement lions for my driveway. I would like for them to look like they have been there for years. How do I grow moss on cement? I seem to recall something about buttermilk. Thank you

I remember reading something about getting some moss and blending it with buttermilk (just like you said) and painting it on the surface you want it to grow on. Never tried it though and don't know much more than you. :idunno

Good luck though and keep us posted on how it works. :thumbsup :rainbow-sun

If they're new the first thing you will need to do is get rid of the lime in the surface layer. That's what the acid in the buttermilk does; then the dried buttermilk acts as fertilizer for the moss. Moss spores are in the air all around you so it will come by itself when the surface is ready. Of course you will have to keep them out of the sun. Moss needs moisture.
